282 Audit for the Management of Acute Gallstone Disease

Abstract Aim The aim of this audit was to investigate how patients referred by the Emergency Department (ED) with biliary disease were managed. Also, identify a cohort which could be safely discharged from ED an outpatient US and follow up Surgical Assessment Unit. Method Data collected 23/11/20 11/12/20. inclusion criteria abdominal pain diagnosis disease. included blood results, results if they underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC). Results There 22 identified; 5 had colic, 4 cholangitis 13 cholecystitis. colic almost completely normal bloods on admission. While 16/17 cholecystitis/cholangitis elevated FBC, CRP or LFTs. performed 3 within days attendance. cholecystitis/cholangitis, mainly 2 days. None received antibiotics inpatient LC. All cholecystitis admitted treated antibiotics. 1 patient LC 7 waiting list. Conclusions This has shown that are being imaged efficiently appropriately It demonstrated test in is effective at differentiating between other diseases require However, improvements need made increase access for undergo timely LCs.
